Deakin Law Clinic is a community legal service offering free legal advice, assistance and information to people experiencing disadvantage in their access to justice.

It also aims to educate the broader community in relation to legal rights and justice issues.

Our services

Generalist Law

The Generalist Law Practice assists clients with various areas of law and civil law matters including intervention order matters, fines and infringements, debts and small claims, motor vehicle accidents (not personal injury), neighbourhood disputes and wills, estates and powers of attorney.

Criminal Law

The Criminal Law Practice provides services to clients who have been charged with summary or indictable offences, and undertakes appeal work in appropriate cases (this practice area is not operating and will resume in March 2025).

Employment law

The Employment Law Practice helps employees, small businesses and other workers navigate the employment law system.

Family law

The Family Law Practice assists clients with matters concerning family violence, marriages, separations and divorce, parenting arrangements and property settlements.

Policy Advocacy

The Policy Advocacy Practice gives students the opportunity to undertake real problem-based projects that address economic and social injustices.
