Law students in discussion
Deakin Law Clinic’s free legal advice makes the news

Deakin students lead the way providing free legal advice at pop-up sessions in North Geelong.

Deakin Law Clinic was featured in the Geelong Independent  in a story covering the free pop-up law clinics it ran at the Cloverdale Community Centre throughout August and September.

Law clinic students, under the guidance of clinical solicitor Hanna Dickinson, held weekly sessions at the centre providing legal advice to community members who needed assistance.

Spanning family law, civil law, fines, interventions and more, the pop up clinics helped clients understand their issues in legal terms and provided advice on how to access legal support and resources to resolve them.

The students who took part gained invaluable practical experience through exposure to the real legal problems faced by people in the community who would normally face high barriers to accessing legal advice.
